Blackberries loaded with special software have been introduced as part of a test project aimed at assisting in the securing of our nation's airports. The project, currently being tested at Logan International Airport is utilizing the Blackberry device as an important information source.

The specially designed software allows patrol officers to search state and federal databases via encrypted queries. The Blackberry frees the officer from reliance on his radio, a computer, or even a dispatcher. An officer is now able to look up the information he requires by himself.
