By James Miller Quovadx is now offering its QDX Physician Portal software in the United Kingdom. With QDX Physician Portal, users can retrieve medical information from a personal computer or from other Web-enabled electronic devices, such as a PDA. According to Quovadx, QDX Physician Portal enables doctors, surgeons, nurses and consultants to have real-time access, via a Web browser, to a patient's electronic health records and test results, allowing them to review lab and test results as well as all of an organization's clinical, financial and demographic information in an aggregated fashion. So, for example, a doctor can view all test and lab results from a given patient on a single screen at the patients bedside. Quovadx is presenting QDX Physician Portal at the Toward an Electronic Health Record Europe (TEHRE 2003) conference, which officially starts tomorrow. The delivery of medial information to health professionals is one of the vertical markets where PDAs and handheld devices have truly made there presence known. A number of companies, including ePocrates and Skyscrape, deliver health related content, such as drug and diagnoses directories and medical journals to handhelds via expansion cards or wireless access, while companies such as Quovadx mobilize a practice or hospital's backend. Of course, there is a large amount of overlap between these two types of mobile medical solutions. Related Links:
