T-Mobile started offering a color version of its popular Sidekick device today.
The new $299 Sidekick, which is made by startup Danger, features a 65,000-color screen and support for AOL Mail and Instant Messenger (AIM). T-Mobile said Thursday that it will also offer new pricing plans for the device.
New and existing Sidekick customers can add unlimited e-mail, Web browsing, AIM and text messaging to any T-Mobile voice plan for $20 a month, the company said. The carrier is also offering a data-only plan that includes unlimited e-mail, Web browsing, AIM and text messaging for $29.99 a month, with voice calls billed on a pay-as-you-go basis for 20 cents a minute.
Last week, Danger signed a second carrier for its hiptop device. Triton PCS, an AT&T Wireless affiliate, has started selling the original monochrome device in certain markets in the southeastern United States.
