Survey Finds Doctors Want More PDA Content

By PDAStreet.com Staff
September 30, 2003

With nearly one in three doctors owning PDAs, AvantGo claims a recent survey uncovers why medical professionals are among the fastest adopters of mobile technology, which comes as no surprise since hospitals and medical practices have been implementing mobile bedside, billing, and prescription solutions for years now.

According to Avantgo, results of the 2003 AvantGo Healthcare Professional Survey show that medical professionals are using PDAs most often to access clinical information (70%), get medical news (58%) and leverage medical calculators (57%). And they are doing so regularly, as nearly half of respondents indicated that they access AvantGo health-related channels once a week or more. In addition, specialty news, medical abstracts and practice management tips topped the mobile content wish list.

The 2003 Healthcare Professional Survey is based on responses from more than 2,500 AvantGo users - physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses and nurse-practitioners worldwide. The self-administered survey was completed over a three-week period and delivered on mobile devices via the free AvantGo service.
