By PDAStreet.com Staff Pointsec Secures CSC Outsourcer Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has inked an agreement with Pointsec Mobile Technologies to protect its own and clients' mobile devices with Pointsec's encryption and access control solution. This deal enables CSC to protect clients who outsource the security of their mobile devices, such as PDAs and smartphones, to only let authorized users gain access to data held on their handhelds. CSC staff in Europe will use the initial order, and this order has immediately been followed by an order for Pointsec to secure a major CSC healthcare client. Zire 72 MMS App
Electric Pocket worked with palmOne to develop the standards compliant multimedia messaging service (MMS) solution for palmOne's recently announced Zire 72 handheld, which features a 1.2-megapixel digital camera. The new palmOne Messages 1.0 application, which is based upon Electric Pocket's Pixer MMS software, enables Zire 72 users to create and send MMS messages via the device's built-in Bluetooth wireless capabilities.

PocketWorm is a freeware arcade game for Pocket PCs where the goal is to eat items on the game board. As the worm you're playing eats, it grows. At first it's not that big of a deal, but after a while you have to watch where you're going so as not hit your own tail. If a player hits her tail then the game over.
ThunderHawk for Intel Platform Bitstream's mobile browser ThunderHawk has been optimized for Intel's Personal Internet Client Architecture, a hardware and software platform and framework for building cellphones and handheld devices. Intel said the platform separates computing and communications subsystems with the goal of making it easier to develop and deploy mobile devices. ThunderHawk aims to enable users of handhelds based on Intel's Personal Internet Client Architecture to view and navigate Web pages in intuitively. IonHawk for Cellphones Mobile Scope's new shooter game IonHawk is slated to be available at the end of this month for Alcatel, Nokia, Motorola, Sagem, Samsung, Siemens and Sharp handsets. As a pilot named Ammadon, a prisoner who escapes from jail, players pilot the IonHawk fighter through enemies over multiple levels in three ever-changing worlds. A lock-on system lets players choose to shoot individual enemies or annihilate multiple targets at once, and ground targets like turrets, buildings and houses are destroyable. Also, players can collect dozens of extra weapons and power ups along the way and find hidden bonus levels to aid in their battle.
Fonix VoiceDial Fonix has released VoiceDial 2.0, a software-based speech interface solution for mobile phones. Fonix VoiceDial 2.0, which is available for a number of Pocket PC Phone Edition and Windows smartphones handhelds, includes a several enhancements. So users may now choose from multiple languages, and support for both TTS and recorded prompts has added the ability to allow users to choose the most efficient and intelligible interface for their device. It also supports screen rotation and the interface is scalable for optimal device screen size, among other things. Original design manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers can license VoiceDial for a per-unit royalty fee. End users may buy the software for $15.95. A beta version of Fonix VoiceDial is also coming soon for Symbian-based Nokia Series 60 devices. Mom's User More Cellphones, PDAs 85% of the nation's mothers age 21 and over use a cellphone in 2004, up from 75 percent in 2002, according to preliminary results from the 2004 Technology User Profile report released by MetaFacts. The study also found that moms are often pioneers in the use of several up-and-coming technology activities. Moms are also more likely than the average American household to use a PC owned by a school, to use a computer to make a home movie, to order pay-per-view on TV, use a PC owned by a library, cybercafe, church or kiosk, and to use a handheld computer or PDA, such a Palm or Microsoft Windows Pocket PC (16.6% versus 12.3% nationwide). The study also found that single mothers have a lower use of technology than two-parent families, yet are still ahead of the national average in using technology products. LightWav Toysoft has updated LightWav, its application to replace alarms and Treo 600 ringtones with any wav and mp3 sound file. With the new version 2.1 update, Treo 600 users can now use animated GIF as video callerID. Users can also still use Live! recorded motion video as video callerID as well. JAMDAT SPORTS' NFL 2005 JAMDAT Mobile has announced a new wireless game for mobile phones, JAMDAT SPORTS' NFL 2005. The game, published under license with the NFL, is scheduled for launch at the beginning of the NFL regular season this fall. It will feature all 32 teams and likenesses. The game said fans will have a full range of running, passing and kicking options. On defense, users can stuff the run, making interceptions and sacking the QB. JAMDAT SPORTS' NFL 2005 also keeps close tabs on stats such as passing yards, rushing yards, interceptions, tackles, total touchdowns, field goals, sacks and more. MICRO MACHINES Goes Mobile iFone and Daydream Software AB plans to release a mobile game based on MICRO MACHINES and its highly stylized mini vehicles. Under license from Atari and Hasbro, the MICRO MACHINES mobile game allows gamers to burn tires in single player races. It is developed in J2ME. The MICRO MACHINES games will be distributed via the iFone sales channels to all the major international operators such as Vodafone, AT&T, Sprint, O2, Orange, and T-Mobile in Q2 this year. Intellisync for Windows Smartphones Intellisync has released Intellisync Mobile Suite platform version 5.5, extending the product's device support to include Windows Mobile-based smartphones. So with version 5.5, Windows-based Smartphone users can take advantage of Intellisync Mobile Suite's client "push" capabilities, which use the IP-based network connectivity of Wi-Fi, WAN or LAN networks to deliver "Always There" data, including email and PIM information, to mobile workers. The new version also provides improvements both to server scalability and wireless sync performance, plus the ability to monitor and push email across enterprise workgroups without requiring a direct connection to the groupware server. Warfare Incorporated Updated Handmark and Spiffcode has a new version of its game Warfare Incorporated ($30), adding multiplayer functionality, a complete Mission Editor, and access to dozens of original user-contributed missions. Warfare Incorporated’s new multiplayer functionality includes 21 maps and pits 2 to 4 players head-to-head to win the wealth of the planet Icarus. This new feature is supported for Palm OS and Windows Mobile-based device users via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Cross-platform game play is supported on both platforms .
Push-to-Talk for Symbian Handsets Sonim Technologies has announced the addition of Symbian OS support for its Sonim PoC Client product line. This addition enables Push-to-Talk functionality on Symbian OS compliant phones, which comprise the largest market share of smart-phones worldwide. All Sonim enabled handsets conform to the Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) phase 1 specification. The PoC phase 1 specification is the standard for carrier-grade Push-to-Talk solutions. Karrier Communications is shipping IntelliGolf version 3.6 ($29.95), scorecard software for Sony Ericsson P800 and P900 smartphones. IntelliGolf delivers Scoring, Statistics, Sidegames, and 18,500+ Signature courses, while automating on-course golf scoring, presenting performance graphs and statistics in color, including many popular sidegames, and providing wireless access to a scorecard database.
