By PDAStreet.com Staff Intellisync Panasonic Phones A version of Intellisync's synchronization software will be bundled with upcoming SyncML-based mobile phones that Panasonic intends to begin selling to operators in Europe this year. The solution is designed to synchronize contacts, calendars and tasks between Panasonic's GSM/GPRS mobile phones and PC applications such as Microsoft Outlook. Intellisync said it intends to offer Panasonic mobile phone users the opportunity to upgrade to the full version of Intellisync, which provides advanced features such as data filtering, custom field mapping and support of multiple folders. Laplink Upgrades PDAsync Also on the handheld synchronization front, Laplink has upgraded its own synchronization solution, PDAsync, to version 3.0. PDAsync synchronizes contacts, calendar, tasks, email, and notes, between mobile devices and applications on a PC. PDAsync ($59.95) now also supports, Pocket PC 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2003, Lotus Notes 6.5 and selected Sony Ericsson mobile phones. Abracadabra Phelios' latest arcade and puzzle game for the Pocket PC is Abracadabra ($19.95). In the game, players use a magic wand to make or break walls. Their mission is to find a key and other magical ingredients using supernatural powers to protect themselves from creatures. There are 115 levels.
Poker Multiplayer MFORMA has released Poker Multiplayer, the first mobile J2ME game where four players can play simultaneously, at the same time, and in the same game. Available only to Sprint PCS Vision customers, the game features real-time, phone-to-phone play. MFORM claims its socket-based multiplayer technology allows a wireless handset to process information faster than HTTP-based multiplayer games. IntelliChess
Intorine has released IntelliChess 2.1 ($24.95), a new version of the chess game for the Pocket PC. With it, users have the ability to play online at the Internet Chess Club. So now, if your PDA is connected to the Internet, you can play online against people from all over the world at the ChessClub.com server.
JAVOSkin Case
JAVOSkin from handheld peripheral vendor JAVOedge is a new translucent case that fits the contours of a devices, retaining the look of a PDA. The first model is available for palmOne's Tungsten E. According to the company, it protects and covers all edges, buttons and d-pad from scratches while holding the it securely in place. JAVOSkin is made of silicone.
BlackBerry Screen Protector JAVOedge also has new JAVOScreen screen protectors ($10.95) for the BlackBerry 6200 and 7200 series handhelds from Research In Motion. Deluxe Screen Protectors Proporta has released the latest addition to its PDA-protection product line, the new Deluxe Screen Protector ($10.95). The company said each individual screen protector is made from a tough, washable, high clarity plastic which improves the feel of a PDAs screen as well as protecting it from dust, dirt and scratching. The user can wash and return the PDA screen protector back onto their device a number of times. It is available for a number of palmOne and Hewlett-Packard handhelds, as well as Sony Ericsson's P900 smartphone. MailWave Hilton Development Group has rolled out MailWave, a new wireless gateway for accessing email via Palm OS handheld devices. MailWave features include new message notification, calendar viewing, one-handed operation, and support for portrait/landscape views. It works with most Palm based devices using OS 3.5 or higher, including the Treo 600 smartphone. The solution has been certified for use by several U.S. wireless network providers and is also amined at small businesses and individuals. AgendaVU CushySoft has updated its AgendaVU wallpaper software to support the palmOne Zire 72. AgendaVU 1.1 is an add-on that displays photographic images behind the Agenda view in the Calendar application on newer palmOne handhelds. The Zire 72 comes with a limited, built-in facility to display a single background photo in Calendar's Agenda view. AgendaVU greatly extends this feature.
Each pre-built theme (12 photos) is $7 and the combination "5-pack" theme(60 photos) is $19. The AgendaVU Theme Builder desktop software is $14. It lets you build an unlimited number of custom themes. NS Basic/Palm 4.2 NS BASIC has added a new Grid control to its development platform for the Palm OS, NS Basic/Palm 4.2 ($149.95). The grid control can be populated with data on a cell by cell basis, or linked to a Palm OS database. If there is more than a screen full of data, scrolling is handled automatically. Data types supported include strings, numbers and checkboxes. A filter can be specified to select which records are displayed from a database. SureWave Mobile Defense JP Mobile has acquired PDA Defense from Asynchrony Solutions. JP Mobile plans to re-brand the product as SureWave Mobile Defense. The application provides security and encryption for Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian and Research In Motion (RIM) devices. The client-based standalone security solution can also be integrated with JP Mobile's SureWave Enterprise Server for the encryption of data as it is transmitted too a handheld and on the device. Kinoma Media Album
Kinoma has partnered with Tribeworks to create Kinoma Media Album ($40) for the Palm OS. Kinoma Media Album allows users to rapidly assemble videos, photos, and sounds on a PC and deliver them to handheld devices. Users can assemble customized albums of digital photos, video, and music for their handheld without worrying about compression ratios or frame rates. Kinoma Media Album imports your media so all you have left to do is drag and drop your files to create albums with synchronized sound.
So business users, for example, can combine digital video, audio, and still images into a single interactive multimedia presentation using existing marketing materials, while educators can user the application to organize and distribution supplemental content. VoiceDialer for Pocket PC Phones
VITO Technology has updated VoiceDialer PE ($15.95) for Pocket PC phones, which allows users to pronounce a name to dial a number instead of choosing it manually from the address book, to version 3.0. The new version features an enhanced recognition engine for recording and processing voice commands as well as a new look. Also, VoiceDialer PE can handle voice tags in any language according to the users’ habits and preferences.
Mobile Digital Media Mobile Digital Media, a publisher of of software for smartphones and PDAs on plug-and-play SD/MMC cards, is offering a 15% on any one software title for those who register for its newsletter until June 18. Mobile Digital Media offers reference, productivity and entertainment titles for Palm OS, Windows Mobile, and Nokia Series 60 devices.
