Often find yourself at the grocery store wondering what to make for dinner?

If so, then a new Allrecipes.com channel for iAnywhere Solutions AvantGo mobile Internet service is for you. Allrecipes.com is a large online source of recipes for home cooks.

Through a smartphone or PDA wirelessly or via desktop synchronization, the channel aims to provide users with full screen views of over 28,000 recipes, quick and easy search tools that locate the right recipe quickly, real time personalized shopping lists based on recipe ingredients, and a personalized recipe box to store and access favorite recipes.

There are also over 500 food and cooking advice articles with answers to food questions for cooks of all levels.

Allrecipes.com VP of marketing and public affairs Esmee Williams says the site's community of millions of home cooks “rely on technology solutions such as mobile phones and PDAs to help them get more things done in less time– no matter where their days take them. Being able to offer them anytime, anywhere wireless access to the most comprehensive database of home cooking recipes is something extremely valuable.”

The Allrecipes.com channel is the second move—after introducing a travel application in May—towards more interactive content from Avantgo.

Whereas traditional channels update information during a sync to the Avantgo server, the travel service leverages Dynamic HTML to deliver on-device applications right to a user's PDA and smartphone. With these programs, subscribers can manipulate information without syncing.

Avantgo senior director Neil Versen told PDAStreet at the time of the travel service launch that interactivity offers greater value to consumers, while getting them to use Avantgo more than they normally might to make advertisers happy.

He said many other examples of interactive on-device content would become available throughout the ensuing months. The Allrecipes.com channel is the first of these additional services.

About today's announcement, Versen says Avantgo prides itself "on offering mobile solutions to some of the world’s most recognized brands and services. By working with Allrecipes.com as our most comprehensive food channel provider, we are doing just that.”

AvantGo has a user base of more than seven million unique members, while Allrecipes.com has a million plus members
