It's been a busy time for those who like to make sure their BlackBerrys have the latest versions of the applications they use. For instance, two instant messaging (IM) apps - Yahoo! IM and GoogleTalk - were updated to version 2.0 today.

You can download bothYahoo! IM and Google Talk over the air your BlackBerry at mobile.blackberry.com. They show up on the main page under what's hot.

 

Slightly different interfaces were the first things I noticed about both updated IM applications. They now allow you to see the avatar pictures your friends have put on their accounts.

Yahoo Messenger also now allows you to send media. While you get an option of File, Picture, Voice Note, or Multiple Files, you will only see the send media option if you can actually send something to a person. The new Yahoo Messenger can also receive files.
