Review: BBSmart Email Viewer - Takes BlackBerry Mob-E-Mail to the Next Step

By Melissa Oxendale

BBSmart Email Viewer is a great add on to your default e-mail application. It not only makes HTML formatted messages look better, it ncludes an e-mail template application for when you send similar content that might take longer to type.

Keep in mind, the application does ask you to go into Options, Advanced Options, Applications, find SmartView, edit permissions to allow access on your BlackBerry.

There are a lot of options available in BBSmart. You can change the header colors for each e-mail account, so you may not see the e-mail address if you don't show the full details, but you can still tell which e-mail is attached to your account. Also customizable is the font size, type, color, and background color. There are also options around adding e-mails to tasks and appointments.

The e-mail templates are called SmartSay. You can add templates and modify one they already have set up. This would be great for signatures, information you are often e-mailing out, like directions or steps to use something. Also from within an e-mail you have the option to save it as a template to use later.

You can get asked each time you open an e-mail if you want to use BBSmart to view it or you want the normal view. Another nice feature of BBSmart is a bar that tells you the application's progress as it is making your e-mail look pretty. It gives you a good idea of what is left and how much time it will take.

In your SmartNotes, a note you add to the e-mail, you can also pick a priority, normal, low, or high. The note is changeable and will add an exclamation point to your e-mail.

Overall, BBSmart e-mail Viewer is a great and easy to use e-mail application. It would be a great help to anyone who needs to add a little more Outlook-like abilities to their BlackBerry mailbox. It takes BlackBerry mail to the next step.
