Review: Idokorro BlackBerry Viewer Puffs Up Display Content

By Melissa Oxendale

Idokorro BlackBerry Viewer is an application that displays the screen of your BlackBerry on a computer screen. I tested it on a BlackBerry 8700g.

First off, I don't think you could ask for a simpler install and use. All I had to do was install the file once I downloaded it onto my PC. Nothing gets installed on the BlackBerry handheld.

Once the BlackBerry is hooked up to the PC via the USB cable you just open up BlackBerry Viewer. Click on Start to get a live feed on a PC monitor from the BlackBerry, which you can make full screen by clicking on Full Screen. You can stop the live feed by clicking stop.

BlackBerry Screen

There is also a screen shot button. It opens up a Save As box where you can name it and pick from a bitmap, JPEG, PNG, or GIF formats.

The only other button is the register button. You will get a pop up asking you to register every time you open the application up while you are in the trial period.

This application is great for people like me who love to take pictures of what is on their BlackBerry. Show off a new theme or pictures of applications on the BlackBerry.

The other big use is for demonstrating or training for programs right on the BlackBerry. The live feed seems to make my BlackBerry a little slow, however; sometimes I have to click an extra time or move the scroll wheel more than normal.

And, as with any live feeds, there is a slight delay. It takes a little getting used to. Of course it beats having ten people crowd around you to watch the small BlackBerry screen over your shoulder.

Live Feed on Desktop Monitor

With a price tag at $25.00 BlackBerry Viewer is a little pricey for just taking screen shots. There are other options out there that are cheaper if that's all you're going to use it for. If you need the live feed function, then it is well worth it, however.
