Review: Monopoly Tycoon 2007

Magmic's Monopoly Tycoon 2007 ($7.95) is a great game that requires lots of time to complete just like real Monopoly. I had a lot of fun spending a lot more time playing this game than I intended to or realized.

Instead of building houses and earning rent from other players, in Monopoly Tycoon you are building businesses on your block. Poll the people in the area to see what type of business they want the most—a bar, restaurant, and newsstand just to name a few—and turn one type of business into another. Like the board game, if you own all the blocks that go together you can then build hotels.

Moving around in the game is easy. It uses the traditional scroll wheel and enter key, with the alt and scroll wheel combination moving from side to side. There is sound, with an option to turn it off.

If you are playing in Easy mode you can hire managers to help ensure your prices are set correctly to get the best profit. The daily cost of the manager is dependent on management experience.

You get periodic cards that can hurt you, such as paying insurance, or help you, such as a bank error in your favor of $200. You can also offer to buy the properties you do not own.

When you play you are playing against the BlackBerry. It would be nice to see a multi player version that would let you play against other people, but that's my only complaint.

Overall, this is a great game. If you are traveling Monopoly Tycoon could keep you busy the entire trip.

In addition to BlackBerry, Monopoly Tycoon is available for a number of other phones, smartphones and platforms. Click here for the full list.
