Shape Services has taken the wraps off of the final version IM+ 5, its instant messaging (IM) client for BlackBerrys that until now has been in beta. If you already have IM+, you can upgrade it for free.
IM+ allows you to log onto multiple IM applications from within one program on your BlackBerry. These include MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, Jabber, Google Talk, and My Space IM.
Here's what's available new in version 5, which is a great step forward from their version 4, and probably a reaction to JiveTalk taking their IM out of beta:
The interface has been changed a lot from what you would be used to in version 4. Incoming message notifications and status float by their name.
Open conversations can be grouped at the top of the list.
The envelope icon in the upper right hand corner will let you see which contacts have sent you new messages.
Locate contacts with a find feature by typing in their name.
You can see a list of active chat contacts by pressing and holding the trackball or trackwheel.
Missed events notifications will be displayed if IM+ is idle or running in background mode.
You can also set up online alerts to know when your buddies come online.
