A few months ago, RIM introduced a free application to enable Facebook members to use and access their accounts from a BlackBerry. It is now offering some tips on how to use the software, see below, so you can yet the most out of mobilizing your social networking experience. At the bottom of this page, you'll find links to destinations on RIM's site that'll outline additional features of Facebook for BlackBerry, answer the five most commonly asked questions about the software, and explain where and how to download it to your RIM smartphone.

Q: How do I log in to Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones?

A: On the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen, click the Facebook icon. Type your email address and password and click Login.

To log out:

  1. Display the menu and select "Options"
  2. Click "Logout"
  3. Click "Yes" to confirm you want to logout

Q: How do I update my Facebook Status using my BlackBerry smartphone?

A: To update your Facebook status:

  1. Go to the "Notifications list screen", to display the menu
  2. Select "View Status Updates"
  3. Either click "clear" to clear your status or type in your new status and click "Update"

Q: How do I add a friend using Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones?

A: In Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones, display the menu and select Invite a Friend.

  1. Complete one of the following:
    • If the contact is not in your Address Book, type the contact's email address.
    • If the contact is in your Address Book, type part of the contact's email address and then select the contact.
  2. Click Invite.

Q: How do I write on a wall, send a message, or poke someone in Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones?

A:

To write on a wall

  1. Display the menu and select "Write on a Wall"
  2. Type a part of a friend's name and then select the friend
  3. Click "Continue"
  4. Type a message and click "Post"

To send a message

  1. Display the menu and select "Send a Message"
  2. Type a part of a friend's name and then select the friend
  3. Click "Continue"
  4. Type a message and click "Post"

To Poke Someone

  1. Display the menu and select "Poke Someone"
  2. Type a part of a friend's name and then select the friend
  3. Click "Poke!"
