RIM Posts BlackBerry Storm User Guide

RIM has posted an online User Guide devoted to the BlackBerry Storm, also known as the BlackBerry 9530. It covers everything you'll need to know to get ready for the first BlackBerry with a touch screen—from Device Setup, to The Basics, Using Your Device and Advanced services.

The guide should keep you busy (and informed) until Verizon Wireless finally gets around to releasing the thing. We hope (expect?) that will be soon.

The latest rumor has the Storm shipping on November 15th . Supposedly, Verizon will release the highly-anticipated smartphone on that date. This will be followed by an appearance at Best Buy stores a day later.

Still no word on how much it'll cost to buy a Storm. One rumor places it at going for $219 with a contract, though.

In addition to Verizon in the U.S., the Storm will be made available through Vodafone subscribers in Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand.

The Storm's display is supposed to be advancement over even the iPhone's touch screen. That's because the Storm's depresses slightly when it is pressed. So, according to RIM, the user feels a soft click as the screen is released. This technology should make using the Storm's virtual keyboard more user-friendly than the iPhone's, which offers no such feedback.
