Accu-Weather Comes to Zumobi Browser

The concept behind the Zumobi browser for Windows Mobile is to use selectable "tiles" to give you easy access to the sites you visit most often. Zumobi spun out of Microsoft's development lab last year and went to market with its Zooming User Interface made up of multi-level tiles that you tap to "zoom" into the associated information. The tiles are generally ad-supported widgets with games, news, photos and the like.

One of the new partners for this alternative web-browsing-on-the-go strategy is Accu-Weather.com. You can now select Accu-Weather as a tile in your Zumobi interface and click it anytime for current weather conditions where you are-or where you wish to be.

The Accu-Weather tile also offers the five-day forecast. From the tile, you have ready-click access to the deeper well of weather information at Accu-Weather.com.

In addition to weather data, Zumobi offers tiles covering a wide range of categories, such as entertainment, finance, kids and sports.

If you haven't checked out the Zumobi style of receiving web content on your handheld, take a look at the demo on their Web site.

Next on the drawing board for Zumobi is for adding support for high-end J2ME handsets, including BlackBerry, to the Mix, Zumobi VP of business development Ken Willner told Mobile Marketer.

To learn more about Zumobi's plans, and get details about how the Tile system works, you can check out excerpts from Mobile Marketer's conversation with Willner and Zumobi marketing VP Cindy Spodek Dickey here.
