Sorenson Helps Online Video Go Mobile

Mobile video has been slow to take off, thanks to the lack of a standard, but a newly released SDK from Sorenson allows for high-speed Flash video playback on any device with an embedded programmable processor.

Sorenson Media today announced the availability of the Sorenson Spark Software Developers Kit (Sorenson Spark SDK) for embedded chipset companies and digital device manufacturers.

The kit lets developers to add the Sorenson Spark decoder to nearly any digital device with an embedded programmable processor and allows playback of high-speed Flash-based video on cell phones, smartphones and portable media devices. Sorenson Spark is the codec currently used on YouTube.
