These upscale resorts (and other hotels – simply ask the concierge) include the smartphone babysitting in pricey packages, but there are other ways, in other places, to disconnect.

For example, set an auto-reply to your e-mail, record an extended message on your voice mail and ask a colleague to fight immediate fires. Then just turn off your phone and chuck it in your sock drawer-or suitcase if you just can't leave it behind- til you get home from vacation.
