As if bill-paying isn't burdensome enough, now you can do it wherever you are with a Verizon Wireless BlackBerry or Get It Now-capable smartphoneprovided you bank at an institution that's partners with Mobile Banking.
The current list is Wachovia, Regions, SunTrust, USAA, Synovus, America First Credit Union (AFCU), Arvest, Bancorp South, FirstBank, South Financial and BECU. Account holders at those institutions, with the right devices, can use the service to transfer funds, pay bills on-line, check balances and review past transactions (done on the mobile or not).
Mobile Banking includes a specific 8-digit initialization code as well as a required PIN for secure access. Transfers can only be made between accounts signed up for online access and you can't set up new Bill Pay payees from your phone.
The devices that currently have access to Mobile Banking are: BlackBerry Curve 8330, BlackBerry Pearl 8130, the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition, Voyager by LG, Venus by LG, LG VX9400, MOTORAZR maxx Ve, MOTORAZR2 V9m, Verizon Wireless FlipShot by Samsung, Verizon Wireless Juke by Samsung and Alias by Samsung.
From a compatible device, access https://mobile.vzw.com and click on the Mobile Banking link to download it (or click Applications and then Mobile Banking).
