Tip: BlackBerry - Time Zones

By Amy Mayer
August 20, 2008

While some smartphones will automatically update your time zone when you turn them on after touching down on the other side of the continent or ocean, others require manual adjustments. To select a new time zone on your BlackBerry:

  • Click on the "Settings" icon from the home screen (it looks like a wrench).
  • Select Date/Time/Time Zone
  • Choose your new zone from the pull-down list.
  • Then - importantly - click on the Menu button and choose "save" or your change won't take effect.

Remember to reset the time zone when you get home.

Note: you may want to spot-check a few appointments to be sure their times weren't inappropriately changed. We found things a bit inconsistent on this point.
