Tip: Smartphone - No GPS? No Problem

No GPS on your phone? No problem. MapQuest and 1-800-FREE411 have a free service that will send you turn-by-turn voice directions or, if you have internet on your phone, you can receive them as web pages.

  •  
  • From your mobile, dial DIR-ECT-IONS (347-328-4667)
  •  
  • The voice prompts will lead you through the steps to say where you are going and then where you are starting from
  •  
  • Indicate, when prompted, whether you want to receive the directions as a text message or as a web link
  •  
  • Hang up
  •  
  • Shortly, you'll receive a text message containing either the directions or the web link. directions or, if you have internet on your phone, you can receive them as web pages.

    The service is free, but be mindful of your text/data plan if you become a regular user.
