The convenience of a map in your pocket-one requiring no re-folding and adaptable to just about anywhere you happen to need one-that Google Maps offers Smartphone users just keeps getting better. Features previously only available to laptop and desktop users, such as walking directions and the advanced street map view, are now available on the mobile version.

Google Maps for Mobile, available for free from m.googe.com (click "more" then "maps"), is for Java, Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 3rd Edition, the Palm OS and BlackBerry phones. It is pre-installed on the iPhone, of course.

If you have an older version of Google Maps on your smartphone, check and see if their is a new edition. There just might be.

Try installing the new version, which will prompt you for approval to overwrite the old version. Click "yes" when prompted to approve the site and yes again to remove the old version of Google Maps before installing the new.
