Sprint, the first carrier to launch Palm's Pre smartphone will soon become the first to deliver RIM's latest BlackBerry model, the Tour, as well. It recently announced plans to shikp the BlackBerry Tour on July 12, only a few days from now.
The new smartphone operates on Sprint's 3G (EV-DO Rev. A) network in the U.S. and is capable of roaming on other high-speed wireless networks for voice and data communications when abroad. That's because the BlackBerry Tour also includes 2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA (3G) and quad-band EDGE/GSM/GPRS radios.
Additional features include a high-resolution display (480 x 360 at 245 ppi) display; a full-size QWERTY thumb keyboard and trackball; the ability to take up to a 16GB microSDHC card; and, of course, support for corporate and personal email with attachment viewing, a calendar, and integrated address book.
The BlackBerry Tour will be available for $199.99 with a new line of service or eligible upgrade, two-year service agreement and $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate.
